My fiance, Ryland, and I have attempted to rehome our dog Baron twice now. He is a 4-5 year old Beagle mix who is neutered but not up to date on shots and he is an absolute sweetheart. I adopted him from the Lawrence Human Society in August 2021. Unfortunately he needs a considerable amount more time and attention than either of us are able to give him at this point in our lives. Both my fiance and I work in healthcare and are gone from home 12-18 hours every day. Both our commutes to the KC area aren't short and Baron has some behavioral issues that we have tried to curb many times. If left unattended, he will get into our pantry or the trash and will mess inside the house. We have taken him to obedience classes and he has passed and retains his training knowledge very well. He does well when someone is home to attend to him, keep him out of trouble, and keep him on a tight schedule, but our work keeps us away from home too much to be able to provide that for him. We have learned he is great with kids, cats, other dogs, and all humans. He just wants to love everyone and be loved. We have also learned he does very well with staying potty trained when he has access to a secure, enclosed yard area. Otherwise he will not do his business while on walks. We have worked with him to attempt to kennel train him while we are absent and that ended with him tearing apart his kennel to potentially injure himself because of the amount of separation anxiety he experiences. As I have said previously, we have attempted to go through other methods and rehome him ourselves twice now and he has come back home due to the behavioral issues I have mentioned previously as well. We know we cannot give Baron the life, love, and attention he deserves and he's far too sweet of a dog to end up somewhere he'd be either abused, euthanized, or abandoned again. Our resources are running thin and we are at a loss of what to do now. Please let us know if you are able to help us in any way. Baron is not a large dog, only about 30 lbs, but every ounce of that is filled with love we know he can give to the right home. Thank you so much for your time.
