Hello,
My name is Emma Henry and I am a Vet Tech at Bowling Green Veterinary Clinic in Bowling Green, MO. I have a year and a half old Pitbull Terrier that I am needing to surrender. The reason he is needing to be rehomed is because his previous owners brought him in to be euthanized. They told me they made this decision because he bit their 10 year old Chihuahua a few nights before. They informed me that this was his first attempt to ever harm another housemate so who knows what the circumstances could have been. They have cats that he plays with and livestock that he has never had issues with. They did not want to take the chance of it happening again so euthanization was their only option. They also did not want to pursue any type of behavioral training. They surrendered him to me and though I tried to rehome him it was not successful. The family that was interested in adopting him brought their other Pitbull along (an intact male) to meet him and Jupiter growled and lunged that whole time. This is when I decided that a rescue would be the best option so that he could be properly socialized and placed in the perfect home. I do not believe he is dog aggressive because he gets along very well with my neutered Mastiff and does not growl or lunge at the other dogs in the kennel. He is very sweet and deserves a good home. While being here I have had him neutered and he has received his Rabies, Galaxy6, Bordetella, HWT - negative, and Proheart 12 Injection which is a year long heartworm preventative. He does have some mild skin allergies which can be treated with Benadryl. We administered a Cytopoint Injection which is to help with his allergies. He gets along great with kids but does play rough so I would recommend him being placed with older children.
